Leonid Boguslavsky

Partner & Founder

Leonid Boguslavsky is the founder of RTP Global. A computer scientist and pioneer of the early internet, he has invested in some of the world’s most innovative software technologies such as Datadog (NASDAQ: DDOG), Delivery Hero (DE:DHER), Ring Central (NYSE: RNG) and EPAM Systems (NYSE: EPAM), among others.

In his scientific and academic career, Leonid’s work focused on performance evaluation and the modeling of computer systems and networks. This formed the basis for Leonid’s interest in the emerging internet protocols. In the mid 1980s, he and his team created an early software system to connect IBM mainframes with minicomputers and personal computers to form an integrated computer network.

In the early 1990s, Leonid moved to Canada where he later became a citizen and joined the University of Toronto as a visiting professor of Computer Science. It was during this time that he was inspired to start and build his first business, an IT solutions integrator company that was later acquired by PwC in 1997.

Eager to find and support other tech entrepreneurs, Leonid used the proceeds of his company’s sale to create the investment vehicle that would later become RTP Global. This bold bet saw him invest most of his personal wealth into the new investment firm. But the bet paid off: under Leonid’s leadership, RTP Global has invested in over 110 tech startups across the US, Asia, and Europe, with one in ten of these companies becoming multi-billion dollar businesses.

Leonid has always been inspired to find and work with the emerging talent, individuals who have a relentless work ethic and are obsessive about refining their craft. His commitment to them is a partnership of unwavering support for the long haul. As one of the earliest investors into Datadog in 2012, Leonid maintained his ownership beyond their 2019 public listing, refusing to sell because of his conviction in the team and product. His bet ultimately returned 500x the invested capital and became one of his major holdings.

Outside of work, Leonid is an avid triathlete and has competed in 20 Ironman competitions. He began his own journey into the world of triathlons at the age of 62 and has since qualified three times for the Ironman World Championship. Additionally, he helps finance and support triathletes over the age of 60 and co-founded the Super League Triathlon in 2016. While he loves swimming in the open ocean, you are more likely to find him cycling through Italy where he lives with his wife and children.
